I drove up to San Simeon to meet Stephanie, with whom I was going to go to Hearst Castle the following day.



The 101 has nice little coves all along the way. These are up around Ventura.


And tons of palm trees, which are not native to California, but might as well be now.



I am always driving into the sun. It doesn't matter which direction I'm going, it seems.


This annoys me.


Ah, fields and fields of vegetation.


I LOVE this kind of tree.


Driving past the rows and rows of crops can be so mesmerizing. That's why I don't look at them while I drive.


Nice cliffs.


This is the worst time to drive because the sun dips lower than the sun shade, so you might as well not even bother trying to see.
