July 23

I think the title of my Flickr album says it all: Oakland Zoo with Melissa and Kai (Melissa's toddler cousin).

These are the mingos.

IMG_2203.JPG
Kai is tiny and likes to lead the way.

Zoo man is feeding the deer!

The siamangs hang out. We watch. They don't make their throaty calling noises.

IMG_2215.JPG
They're looking at snakes.

IMG_2219.JPG
Kai wasn't impressed with the tamarins, but I think they're totally adorable.

IMG_2221.JPG
I really like this picture. I can't entirely explain the yellow glow, since I don't think we were looking at anything yellow. This might have been at the tamarin cage.

IMG_2223.JPG
Kai did like the macaws, though.

IMG_2224.JPG
This sign was on a bench outside of the gibbon cage. Gibbons are not monkeys.

IMG_2229.JPG
Seriously, this kid is adorable.

IMG_2242.JPG
Kai made friends with this tortoise.

IMG_2247.JPG
I am a tortoise!

IMG_2249.JPG
Kai is trying to be a tortoise.

IMG_2251.JPG
This is as close as he got.

IMG_2256.JPG
The sky was so pretty.

IMG_2257.JPG
Lemurs!

IMG_2258.JPG
Shrewd little things.

IMG_2282.JPG
Wow this lemur had giant mammaries!

IMG_2267.JPG
This little girl got to hang out with and feed the lemurs! How did she get to do this?!

IMG_2291.JPG
This is the closest I have ever come to bats, and the best I have ever seen them.

IMG_2293.JPG
Poor sweaty child.

IMG_2298.JPG
This might also be the most amount of giraffes in one small place at one time, that I've ever seen.

These ducks are not from here. The giraffes seem to tolerate them fine though.
